Pair of Banister-Back Chairs
Pair of banister-back chairs, old black paint over the original red, block and vase turnings on the legs, good rush seats, 18th century, New England origin.
The chairs are very close to being a true pair, with only minor differences between them. Both were likely made by the same maker, probably in Boston or Plymouth MA in the mid-18th century. See, The Furniture of Historic Deerfield‚, page 30. Offered by Linda Rosen Antiques
