Peter Buchman "Petalooma" Enamel on Wood, 2015
Contemporary artist Peter Buchman’s “Petalooma” is made of enamel and resin on wood with a pristine gallery frame. It’s part of an ongoing series of work titled “Organic Still Life’s”. This ambiguous piece gets inspiration from both Abstract Impressionism and Pop Art. Peter starts the process with images from his sketchbook and allows each layer to organically add to the outcome. He layers materials such paint, resin, and putty until his object reveals the desired character. As an artist Peter finds it hard to plan the initial outcome, but as long as he finds some kind of macabre beauty that straddles many of his working ideas – then he knows he has a finished piece of art. Signed on verso. Additional pieces of Peter Buchman fine art available through Highland Park, please contact the dealer for more information.
