Somoroff VI from Odegard Carpets
Inspired by vivid art photographs of raw crushed vegetables, Stephanie Odegard created Somoroff, Somoroff II, Smoroff III and Somoroff VI named after the artist whose work inspired them, Michael Somoroff. Attracted to the shapes and colors as well as the incredible line details of his photographs, Stephanie knew a rug depicting these exploding images would be dramatic. Although a challenge because of the photograph’s fine scale and minute artistic details and shadings, Stephanie’s interpretation is at once energetic and expressive while still maintaining the attention to detail and saturated color found in the original photographs. The Artist-Inspired Collection is a step in the melding of art forms where Stephanie Odegard literally takes the colors off of the page or canvas and reinterprets them into art for the floor. Stephanie Odegard creates new designs and collections while maintaining the finesse, subtlety, and luminous color spectrum that are hallmarks of Odegard rugs.
