In 1723, a cooperative mill was started in County Wicklow, Ireland, where farmers could spin and weave their wool into tweeds and blankets. All the yarn was uncolored at first, but then the farmers started experimenting with natural vegetable dyes, and soon the mills output was livened with reds, greens and yellows. After thriving for more than two centuries, the business ran into trouble. By 1960, the looms had been abandoned, and the mill had fallen into disrepair. In the 1970s, a young family came upon an advertisement listing the property for sale, and the rest is history, as they say. Still overseen by that same family today, the mill has stayed true to its heritage, weaving premium rugs, throws and scarves out of wool, mohair, cotton and linen. The warm, luxurious Spectrum Throw (2012) is made using all-natural fibers and dyes, with a colorful pixel pattern. This blanket is great for throwing over the bed, a sofa or yourself. Made in Ireland.
