Studded Leather Upholstered Porter's Chair
Late 19th C. Porter’s Chair in red leather. Porter’s chairs were originally used by gatekeepers that watched over the entrances to estates and greeted visitors. The shape of the chair was designed to envelop the occupant and keep in warmth.
The chair is in good condition with some losses appropriate with age. The leather has some distressing, particularly on the back and along the bottom. Chair sits on casters which have deteriorated with time.
