United We Stand, Marjorie Salvaterra Photography
The Huffington Post says of Salvaterra’s work, “Marjorie Salvaterra‘s images are immediately cinematic. The surreal, black-and-white photos would seem at home in the universe of “Une Femme Mariée,” Jean-Luc Godard’s 1964 French drama. The series reveals the “psychology of her age and her gender… through surreal interpretations and exaggerated gestures.” As Virginia Heckart, Associate Curator of Photography at the Getty Center says, “the images reveal “a fine line between sanity and insanity”.
Salvaterra has exhibited widely, at the Griffin Museum, Musee de Le’elysee among many others. She was runner up for the 2009-2010 Berenice Abbott Prize for Emerging Photographers. reveal “a fine line between sanity and insanity".
