Vintage Fortuny Tete-A-Tete Bench
We bought this Eichholtz style tete-a-tete reclining sofa at the Alameda Point Antiques Fair (Alameda, CA) about 18 years ago. With its reclining seat backs (they move back and forth independently) the piece reminded us of an antique kissing couch. The original upholstery was in very bad condition and appeared to be Pullman style fabric. For awhile we thought it might have come from an antique train however, we found no such provenance for the piece and instead found very similar style sofas being made currently by Eichholtz. Since the original upholstery was in very bad condition and we couldn’t substantiate an antique provenance we had the sofa professionally recovered with this beautiful, rust and ivory Glicini pattern fabric from Fortuny. We have truly enjoyed this wonderful and whimsical tete-a-tete but a recent move has left us without the proper place to showcase it. We hope it finds a wonderful new home where it can be seen and enjoyed.
