Vintage Tom Greene Torch Cut Brutalist Chandelier & Chain
We just acquired this Brutalist style nine light chandelier, produced circa 1970s and designed by Tom Greene. It is hand crafted of torch cut and soldered patinated metal sheets, with central staggered lights, each with faux wax candle socket cover, and an under-light. In addition to being functional lighting, the piece is a limited edition (un-numbered) . Very good condition, consistent with age and use. Dimensions: Apprx. 24" H x 16"x 16" (light); 24" (chain). Please view the mate to this chandelier which will be posted shortly. Tom Greene started by working for the dentistry profession making advanced dental prosthetics, an exact skill. Joe Feldman, owner of Feldman Lamp Co. of California, approached him in the 1970s to start designing lamps for his company. Lighting retailer and designer Monteverdi-Young also encouraged Greene to start creating for his wealthy Palm Springs clients. Thus a new business opportunity for his creative talent developed. Since the labels are not present we do not know which company this chandelier was made for.
