Werner Max Moser Tubular Steel Armchair for Embru Werke
Cantilevered tubular chromed steel armchair with bakelite armrests, model WB 21, designed by Swiss architect Werner Max Moser in 1930 and produced by Embru Werke, circa 1935. A classic, elegant, and well-made Swiss Bauhaus design, this is the first serial production version with the seat loosely held in the frame with pins, and so adjustable to two seating positions. With original metal mesh spring seat, and original woollen fabric cushions, the bottom of which has springs inside. In excellent original condition, the chrome still gleaming, with only minor wear consistent with age and use. The last image shows the chair in the lower seating position. Retains metal Embru tag. From the estate of Elaine Lustig Cohen, noted American graphic designer, artist, gallerist, and collector. Offered by Weinberg Modern
