Designing for the Season:

by Leslie Wood
“Summer is the inspiration for my design because nothing makes me happier than the exuberance of the season. It's a time of year that's full of transformations. My palette was inspired by my favorite color—green, as you can see. I have always dreamed of having a bedroom that felt like a secret garden, and I used that as guidance for my design.”

On the furniture…
The Pearce Desk isn’t your grandmother’s saw horse desk. The timeless design is made fresh with its sharp brass detailing, while the desk chair’s iconic shape illustrates a bit of wit and whimsy. The headboard offers a nod to the past while adding a fresh take on chinoiserie, and the timeless chests add a fresh approach to rival any traditional nightstand.

On the fabrics…
The color-infused “Le Frutier Fiesta” serves as a foundation for the design of the room, while the solid orange, plaid, and leopard prints add a fun punch of color.

On the accessories...
Accessories in design are truly the icing on the cake. Simple furnishings can be transformed when adorned properly and can add panache to any room. For instance, the stunning Ming Lantern is truly a statement piece, made fresh with gold accents. Meanwhile, the desktop and tabletop accessories add character and easy elegance.

On the lighting…
The bamboo floor lamp gives a hint of Asian influence and is a perfect complement to the Ming Lantern. Meanwhile, the white gourd table lamps contrast against the green wall, and the desk lamp, with its marble base and vintage brass head, takes task lighting to a new level.

On the art…
Artistry is in full force in the playful series of pieces above the bed. The vibrant colors of the art help to weave together the other vivid colors in the fabrics.
